Secret in Their Eyes is an American thriller film written and directed by Billy Ray, based on the 2005 novel originally titledLa pregunta de sus ojos (The Question in Their Eyes) by Argentinian author Eduardo Sacheri. The film stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Nicole Kidman, Julia Roberts, Dean Norris, and Michael Kelly. Sacheri’s novel was previously adapted into the 2009 Argentine film The Secret in Their Eyes directed by Juan José Campanella, which won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film at the 82nd Academy Awards. The film is scheduled to be released by STX Entertainment on November 20, 2015.

A team of FBI investigators, Ray (Ejiofor) and Jess (Roberts), and their District Attorney supervisor Claire (Kidman), are torn apart when they discover that Jess’s teenage daughter has been brutally and inexplicably murdered. Thirteen years later, Ray returns to Los Angeles after uncovering a new lead that he feels can permanently resolve the case. On January 20, 2015, STX Entertainment acquired the US rights to the film. STX would also produce the film. Filming began on January 26, 2015, in Los Angeles. On January 27, filming took place at the Santa Anita Park.

STX Entertainment previously scheduled the film to release on October 23, 2015, but in July 2015, the film was moved back to November 20, 2015 release date. The film’s first trailer was released on June 30, 2015. In North America, Secret in Their Eyes will open alongside The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 and The Night Before on November 20, 2015. In its opening weekend, the film is projected to gross $7–9 million from 2,400 theaters.
